Learn Catalan from English, not only from Spanish

Duolingo's Catalan tree starts from Spanish. A dedicated Catalan app with flashcards and native audio from English.

Catalan is not a dialect of Spanish, and it is not a tourist extra. If you are moving to Catalonia or the Balearics, or you already live there, you need Catalan as its own course.

The usual path is Spanish first

Many apps only offer Catalan once you already speak Spanish. That is a real option if Spanish is your starting point. It is a dead end if your everyday language is English.

Llenguapp’s Catalan course is a Catalan course. You can start from English. Spanish speakers still get a head start, because a lot of vocabulary overlaps, and lessons adapt.

Catalan is not the Valencian course

They are related. They are not the same product here. If you need Valencian for the Valencian Community, use the Valencian course. If you need Catalan, stay on Catalan.

What you get

Daily lessons, flashcards with native audio, spaced repetition, and a 7 day trial. One plan also covers Galician, Basque, Welsh, and the rest of the catalog.

Start at /catalan/ or, from Spanish, /es/catalan/.
